General information for admission
Application deadlines
- All BSc degree programs start the Fall semester
- Pre-engineering programs can be started both the Fall and the Spring semesters
- MSc degree programs can be started both the Fall and the Spring semesters
- Application deadline for the Fall semester: 1st June
- Application deadline for spring semester: 19th November
Documents to submit (on-line)
All applications must be submitted on-line (please follow the instructions under the link).

- passport copy
- official document of previous studies:
- secondary high school reports relevant to your application, with special reference to mathematics, physics and English language. Notarized English translation (for BSc application)
- general certificate of education - G.C.E. or any equivalent secondary high school diploma. Notarized English translation (for BSc application)
- official transcripts, degrees/diplomas of any higher education already completed. Notarized English translation (for BSc and MSc application)
- Proof of English language proficiency:
- TOEFL iBT score of 80, or PBT score 550 or
- Cambridge First Certificate "B" or
- IELTS score of 5.0 (recommended for BSc, required for MSc and PhD) or
- Pearson PTE min. 51
- curriculum vitae (autobiography/résumé)
- two letters of recommendation (for MSc and PhD applications only)
- Study Plan (for PhD applications only)
VISA information
- Non-EU and non-EEA (European Economic Area) citizens: visa requirements and procedures may depend on your nationality. Please check out the visa information on the site of Hungarian consular services in the world and the site of the Office for Immigration and Nationality, or contact at the nearest Hungarian Consulate.
- EU citizens shall apply for a residence card at the competent regional directorate of the Office for Immigration and Nationality during their period of study (if longer than 90 days).
BSc placement test
The placement test is mandatory for all applicants who wish to enter into a BSc degree program at BME VIK. For more information on the topics of the placement test, you may check out the BME Alpha site.
- Schedule of placement tests: last week of August, Monday to Wednesday in Mathematics, Physics, and English language (actual dates are published in the academic calendar).
- Students with sufficient score will be directly accepted in the first year of the BSc program.
- Students with results under the threshold cannot be directly accepted in the BSc degree program as the risk of failure is too high. These students are expected to enter our Pre-engineering program first.
- An intensive preparatory course is offered in Mathematics and in Physics to all applicants to our BSc programs the week before the placement test.
- Students not having written the placement test will automatically join the Pre-engineering program.
